Merry Christmas
My dad sent me a photo of himself, using his iSight and a new Mac app called SantaSnap. The addition of hat and beard is supposed to make him look like Santa, but he kind of looks more like Gandalf.

James Kim
As with most geeks out there, the news of James Kim’s disappearance November 25 struck deeper for me than most similar stories. I had seen James Kim many times, testing hardware in the TechTV lab; and I had just started watching him again, while checking out the HDTV reviews at C|Net. It is a blessing that his wife and two children were rescued; but sadly news came yesterday that James Kim, who had gone out on his own to look for help for his family, had perished in the cold.
C|Net offers a tribute and video retrospective.

Calling Sky Captain
Hey Sky Captain fans! No word on a sequel, but director Kerry Conran has a new project out. It’s a TV commercial, but it still has the beautiful nostalgic look of The World of Tomorrow. The video is available on YouTube, but it looks much better (and is in the proper aspect ratio) here:

And read more about the commercial here.
