Raiders of the Fake Box
I knew it. The ancient box that supposedly held the remains of “James, the Brother of Jesus” has been determined to be a forgery. I predicted it as soon as I first heard about it—not because I might believe Jesus was an only child, but because of the ridiculous story around its discovery. The guy said he found it in someone else’s collection. So why wasn’t there all this hoopla from the first owner? Now the box can join the Shroud of Turin and the mummified remains of Pat Robertson in the PT Barnum collection of religious scams.
Speaking of the Shroud of Turin, I knew that was a fake too, even as a child. The evidence is right in the Bible (one of which, despite being so often online, I have handy): John, 20:7.

P.S. Still having problems refreshing my page. I think it might be the stupid Site Meter graphic (since it comes from them), so I’ve removed it for the time being.

Taking stock of liquids so far, I’ve drunk two cans of diet pop, a big 32-ounce diet Pepsi with dinner, and four half-liter bottles of water!

Uh-Oh, Late Night Craaaavings
I’m surprised I never thought to look for such a site before, but here’s the link to Taco Bell.net, the “original” Taco Bell lovers fansite, packed full of information about the Taco Bell menu, franchises, and corporation.

Another Sorry Excuse for a Limerick
| The worst part is still up ahead: I feel like resting my head. The temptation I fear is right here in my chair: I sleep better sitting up than abed! |

From the Depths of “My Documents” II
Here’s another (non-porn) image off my hard drive. I got it from The One Ring.net. The artist is Anke-Katrin Eiszmann, and you can see more of her Tolkien-inspired artwork here.
This is a detail. Click on the image to see the entire painting (592 KBs).

WTF?!
I’ve been reading tales of problems posting with Blogger and communicating via the Blogathon listserv, but I pretty much disregarded them since they wouldn’t concern me. However, just a few minutes ago my site was virtually inaccessible. I have no idea what might have caused it. I doubt it was some kind of late-night maintenance since my host is on the West Coast. And it wasn’t a connectivity problem since I was able to visit other blogs easily. I got so frustrated by repeated tries I rebooted my own computer, just for the sake of it…and somehow that seemed to do the trick! We’re back on the air. (And I optimized my pMachine database too, for the heck of it.)

At Last, No More Grease Spots
Yo-ho! It’s midnight. We’ve reached AM again. The little hours of the night. And so, for a change, an entry with just text (to see if I still can form sentences).
I’m really getting tired of going to work and only afterward finding out I’ve put another grease stain on a stain on a shirt. It’s the peril of in-car fast-food dining. But, thanks to nanotechnology, it might be possible, among other things, to create stainproof clothing, as discussed in this article.
By the way, I got the link from Fark which also mentions the cruelly ironic story of a fire that destroyed the Chicago Flame-Proof & Wood Specialties building.
